Methods of Removing the Tape and Adhesive Traces Remaining When We Remove the Duct Tape

If you are complaining about the sticky stains left when you remove the duct tapes and you are wondering how to remove the duct tape stain, the answer is in our article.

Duct Tape Stains

Duct tapes are indispensable for our homes and businesses.  Duct tapes are materials that we can use in many areas and jobs. However, there are times when it is necessary to remove the duct tapes and when we remove them, unfortunately, the adhesives may remain in the area where we removed them. In such cases, we don't have to worry about these stains. Thanks to some simple and effective methods, we can completely get rid of these scars.

When we want to remove duct tape stains, the most important thing is to apply the right method in the right area. For example, if we try to remove a band stain left on our furniture as if it were on the glass surface, our furniture could be seriously damaged, so we must make sure that we apply the right method with the right material.

There are many methods to remove these stains and marks. If it is a newly formed scar, it can be easily removed, but if it is a long waited and well penetrated mark, it can be a bit difficult.

Duct Tape Stain Removal Methods

Scraping Method

This method is only used on hard and smooth surfaces such as glass, metal, tiles. It cannot be used on furniture or adjacent surfaces, parquets, PVC surfaces as it will cause serious scratches. With the help of a spatula or razor, we can scrape the residue of the tape from such surfaces without pressing. However, we must be careful not to apply excessive force while doing this, otherwise we may cause scratches on these surfaces.

Soapy Hot Water Method

This method is often used to remove these residues from objects that can fit in a container. We prepare a hot soapy water and dip the object on which there is the trace of the tape into the hot water and wait for half an hour. We can easily remove the residue that the soapy hot water will soften later with our hands or with a microfiber cloth.

Baking Soda and Oil Method

In this method, we prepare a mixture of some oil and carbonate in a small bowl. We put this mixture on the residue and leave it for 5 minutes. Then, we can get rid of this scar by wiping the softened residue from the floor with a soapy cloth.

Washing Soda Method

Depending on the size of the object we want to remove the tape trace from, we fill a bowl of hot water and 1 glass of washing soda. Then we soak the object in this water for about 5 minutes. Soda will remove this residue. We wipe the cleaned area with a clean cloth and remove the remains.

Blow Dryer Method

A little bit of hot air softens the tape residues, making them a consistency that can be wiped off. Hot air is kept on the residue at intervals so as not to damage the surface to be cleaned. As the tape residues dissolve, they can be wiped with a clean and damp microfiber cloth.

Rubbing alcohol method

This method, which is used to remove residues on hard and smooth surfaces, is also very effective. We apply rubbing alcohol to a paper towel or cloth, depending on the floor we will wipe. We repeat this process by rubbing the residue with this towel or cloth until the stain is removed.

WD-40 Method

WD-40, which we use in almost every job, will also benefit us in cleaning these residues.  We squeeze this chemical on the tape residue and wait for a while. This will soften and remove the chemical residue. Then, when we rinse it with a cloth or sponge, the residue will be removed.
