Most of us enjoy traveling, and even exploring new places and meeting new cultures is a passion for some of us. Especially long trips that we take alone are the best option for us to listen to ourselves. However, some of us cannot enjoy their journeys, and journeys can turn into torture and ordeal. Car sickness, unfortunately, makes the journey of many of us troublesome. Nausea begins with the movement of the vehicle. Our hand slowly reaches for the bag waiting for us in the bag. We take the bag and the torture begins. The nausea and vomiting that continue throughout the journey is enough to get us out of the way. When we put our feet on the ground, we are now exhausted.

What causes motion sickness (motion sickness)?
This situation, which disturbs ourselves and those around us, is called 'vehicle/car sickness (motion sickness)' . Motion sickness, which is actually a balance problem, is a trick the sense organs play on some of us. On the basis of the discomfort; In vehicles such as cars, boats and airplanes lies the overstimulation of the balance system during movement. This arousal is triggered by problems in the eye or muscle system, the sensitivity of the inner ear, activities that force balance such as reading a book during travel, diseases in the balance system of the inner ear and bad odor.

The person feels unbalanced by perceiving a movement that does not occur during travel. Afterwards, he feels dizzy and has nausea and vomiting that is mild or can't open his eyes. If the person is also tense and stressed, these complaints may continue throughout the trip. However, the discomfort ends when the vehicle stops. In some people, even if the stimuli disappear, nausea and dizziness can last for days.

Motion sickness is more common in children. Generally, those between the ages of 2-12 experience this ailment. The reason for this is that the balance systems are not fully developed. In addition, their drivers usually do not rent a vehicle. Because the vehicle in motion is constantly controlled, the driver's attention is constantly shifting to other points.

What should we do to prevent motion sickness?
It is possible to prevent motion sickness, which turns our travels into a nightmare, by taking some precautions before traveling. Some medications recommended by the doctor can prevent the feeling of nausea and vomiting. However, the drugs should be taken half an hour or an hour before the start of the journey. If the drug is taken after the journey has started; It can be excreted from the body as a result of nausea and vomiting before it has time to be absorbed by the digestive system. 'Scopolamine nausea tapes', which are used by sticking to the skin, are also very effective in motion sickness.

Ginger taken two hours before the trip also prevents nausea and vomiting. However, the most important treatment; the person is not nervous while traveling, not doing things that trigger dizziness, such as reading a book, dealing with distracting and entertaining things.
