When you learn about the surprising uses of olive oil other than food.

Your eyes will pop out of their sockets.

We know that olive oil has been used continuously since ancient times. For a healthy life, experts speak of the benefits of olive oil at every opportunity. Did you know where olive oil is used other than cooking?

Almost everyone who cooks or eats knows the versatility, flavor and health benefits olive oil can bring to cooking. But did you know that it has countless uses throughout the home to protect polishes, fix squeaks and even enhance your beauty routine?

IN THE KITCHEN
- Protect Wooden Cutting Boards, Salad Bowls and Utensils

After hand-washing wooden kitchen pieces , add a light olive oil to them to nourish the wood and prevent cracking and discoloration. Let the oil sit on the wood for about five minutes and then buff it with a soft cloth.

- Stop Sticking
When preparing a recipe, coat measuring cups and spoons with a little olive oil and honey will easily release sticky foods like peanut butter and mustard.

- Polished Stainless Steel
Put some olive oil on a soft cloth and scrub stainless steel utensils, pots and sinks to prevent streaks, water spots, tarnishing and corrosion. Finish by buffing with a soft cloth.

- Slow Darkening
Olive oil does not prevent silver from tarnishing, but keeps it shiny longer. A dab of oil on a soft cloth rubbed on polished silver will slow down the oxidation that causes tarnish.

- Remove Sticky Tags
Saturate paper labels with a drop or more of olive oil and let sit on the label for at least 15 minutes. The sticker can be easily peeled off and the plastic, glass or wood piece can be hand washed to remove any remaining residue.

IN THE BEDROOM AND IN THE BATHROOM
- Keep Pearls Shiny

Pearls can become dull from makeup and soil, but many cleansers are too harsh to be used on sensitive surface. Bring back the shine with a little olive oil on a soft cloth rubbed over each pearl. Dry with a soft cloth.

- Remove Tight Rings
Have a ring that never moves from your finger? Dip your finger in olive oil and using a soft cloth, grasp the ring and gently remove it from your finger.

- Remove Zipper
Dip a cotton swab in a little olive oil and rub it into the teeth of the zipper. Work slowly and pull the zipper up or down.

- Shoe and Boot Shine
Bring shine back to patent leather, rubber and natural leather shoes with a little olive oil on a soft cloth. (Do not use on suede or pile surfaces!) Polish with a clean cloth.
